Review: Rimmel Amethyst Shimmer Lipstick

Saturday, 22 December 2012

Recently I've lusting over plum inspired lip colours, but I find it hard to pick a colour that will suit me well and that I love. As you all know I do love Rimmel lip colours thus when in Superdrug I popped over to the Rimmel stand and searched around for a nice plum shade. After a while of opening caps I found Amethyst Shimmer! At first I thought it looked very purple with hints of deep red so I wasn't too keen, however, it did swatch it and it turned out to be a lovely colour, very dark pink mixed with plums. I was indeed very pleased with it and bought it right away.

This colour is just amazing on the lips, much better than I'd ever thought it would be, so yet again I was pleased! This colour is so easily to build up, so you can have a really subtle hint of colour so your lips look flushed, or really build it up so it's bold and bright, which is really good for a night out or even for a statement  during the day, I find it very versatile much like many of the other Rimmel lipsticks. This is a shimmer lipstick, but I find there to be very minimal shimmer, it's more glossy looking which I suppose is better regarding this shade as the colour is very strong simmers may be a little too much, but others may disagree, I believe it's just preference. This lipstick, like most of the others glides on easily and feels so smooth and nourishing on my lips thus they don't look dry at all or wrinkled which I find tends to happen with lipsticks that basically just dry the lips out. The smell of this is lovely too, very sweet, I believe most Rimmel lipsticks in this range have a similar smell if not the same! It's very subtle and goes away after a while so you don't notice it throughout the day whilst wearing it.

This lipstick is a lasting finish lipstick and it really does live up to it! After about 3-4 hours I noticed it had faded a smidge so I reapplied it, although there wasn't really a need to but again it's all down to preference and, that's just me.

Overall I really do like this lipstick and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a plum/very deep pink shade, it's also a wonderful colour for this season, it's very Christmasy and wintery.

Rimmel lasting finish lipstick - Red Fever

Hey everyone!
This lipstick has to be one of my favorites, it's an absolutely beautiful colour and is just lovely to wear. However I do have to admit that I am always a tad bit wary of wearing a red like this as it is so vivid you never know if you'll pull it off just right. I originally purchased this lipstick a year ago to match a birthday outfit and haven't really worn it since then, I feel it's more of a winter shade as apposed to summer, therefore throughout this month I have been wearing it rather a lot! And, no doubt it will be making an appearance on Christmas day and of course New Year!

The colour pigmentation is amazing, hands down. It's such a bright red and is so matte It just looks perfect once it's applied, this red has to be the best that I've ever used/came across. Although if it gets onto your skin (area around the lips) it does slightly stain so watch out! The texture is so lovely and creamy it feels very nourishing and it really does feel like your lips are getting moisturized which is perfect, I love not having to apply a gloss just to get a nourished look. The smell of this lipstick is very pleasant and 'delicious' much like many other Rimmel lipsticks that I've came across, it's sort of fruity and sweet but isn't too overpowering, a real treat for your nose too!

In my last lipstick post which was on Pink Blush I mentioned it was a lasting finish lipstick and it's staying power left a lot to be desired, however this lipstick was not like that at all, it lasted so much longer than I'd expected, it really does live up to it's 'lasting finish' title! It does transfer very easily as it's so rich but who doesn't love a good old lip stain on their glass? Overall it's a fabulous product and I love it. It's also a dupe to  mac's Russian Red so save yourself some money and try this baby out!

I'm also very pale in regards to my complexion and I know how frustrating it is to wear colours that are very bright and very dark without looking utterly ridiculous so wearing this the first few times was a challenge, it did take me a while to feel confident and comfortable wearing it and also teaming it with the right make up. Nude shadow with winged liner really compliments this lipstick and that is usually how I wear my makeup with this lipstick! So all you pale beauties out there can pull this off, go for it!

Have a lovely Thursday evening.

Review: Rimmel Pink Blush Lipstick

Tuesday, 20 November 2012

Hey everyone!
Recently I have been absolutely loving this lipstick and have been wearing it non-stop for the past few weeks, I think it's safe to say I just can't get enough! I actually got this product a little more than a month ago but have only started wearing it recently as I wasn't too keen on it in regards to the first few wears, but, now that I've been wearing it more I absolutely love it and it's always my go-to colour! I feel it just goes with every look and would suit any skin tone.

The texture of this lipstick is very creamy, that similar to a lip butter, it also feels as if it is moisturizing my lips and helps them feel hydrated which I love as I just can't bear to wear a lipstick that dries out your lips in a matter of hours! The colour pigmentation is great, it's a very girly pink that doesn't scream Barbie bright, it's very subtle but also pretty enough to make an impression. I also can't emphasis enough about the delightful smell this has, it smells very sweet and fruity which makes a pleasant change from other lipsticks that don't really have a smell to them.

However, despite all the brilliant points about this lipstick it is described as a 'lasting finish' which is supposed to last up to 8 hours, I unfortunately find myself having to reapply after around 2 hours of wear but I guess this is a small price to pay for such an amazing product!
